ACT I

Look, I’m just going to say something before starting; this is not going to be your everyday narrative filled with sunshine and rainbows and it’s most definitely not suited for the faint of heart. Luckily, the four heroes that are about to embark on the most perilous yet exhilarating adventure of their lives do not fall in that category. But enough with this nonsensical babbling, there’s this young lad here who is impatiently waiting to receive a name.

You know the drill, what’s his name going to be?

Entitled Dillydallyer.

No that’s simply not it, a young man like him doesn’t deserve such a foolish name.

Seth Averee.

Good try, but that’s not it either.

Wrong answer. However, the boy seems to appreciate the peculiar glitch effect.

Your name is CHRIS MONET.

You have a variety of INTERESTS which you devote most of your free time to. You consider yourself an ENTHUSIAST OF VINTAGE VIDEO GAMES, a NOVICE HACKER and MASTER AT COMPUTER PROGRAMMING; the last one is still a work in progress though. You currently find yourself in the MESSY CLAUSTROPHOBIC ENVIRONMENT you call your bedroom, counting the days for what you're predicting to be THE WORST DAY OF YOUR LIFE; also known as Christmas by more optimistic and merrier people. Other than that, you're also crossing out the days for the 30TH OF DECEMBER which is the DAY YOU WERE BORN as well as the day of the arrival of the LONG-AWAITED GAME.

Minor introductory interlude apart, it’s time to be productive.

Chris: Check calendar.

It’s the 23RD OF DECEMBER, and you know precisely what this means. Just two more miserable days from what you are predicting to be the WORST DAY OF YOUR LIFE judging by past experiences. Hell, you absolutely DESPISE CHRISTMAS considering it is so near to the day you were born, which as previously mentioned is the 30TH OF DECEMBER. As a result you only get presents at around this time which is the reason why you utterly LOATHE the insufferable holiday season in every shape and form. And don’t even get started on the ATROCIOUS DECEMBER WEATHER. Sometimes you just hate living so up north, for you it’s like a FROZEN HELL up in here. You take a deep breath and mentally prepare yourself for the dreadful upcoming date. But nonetheless, you decide to think on the bright side for a change. At least your PACKAGE will hopefully arrive at your doorstep in a matter of days if the mass holiday deliveries don’t delay it of course.

Chris: Look out the window at the snow-covered ground.

You take a minute to take in the bland view from your bedroom window; how it made your eyes roll and a tiresome sigh escape your lips. Even if you perhaps see a twinge of beauty in the SNOW WHITE LANDSCAPE, you will always prefer a more balmy climate. Nevertheless, you better get used to the heaps of snow piling up in the backyard, winter has just arrived.
