The Anomalies: Corebound - Beans - 02-24-2016 08:12 AM

A young man stands in an apartment.

It just so happens that he is one of the lucky 50% of the initial population to avoid the Anomaly virus, and is as human as he ever was. Said 50% is now considerably less, since a lot of people are dead, but the young man standing here is quite happy that luck is on his side and keeping his hide intact. And the exact same color it's always been.

It also happens to be this guy's birthday. But, for once, that's not important at all. From his view, through the gaping hole at the side of the building, he is easily reminded that this is no time for parties.

He has had a name for many years, but only now will it be known to the people back home.

What shall the name of this fortunate young man be?

Wow, try again, jackass!

This guy has been through some nasty shit recently, and while he would usually be able to laugh off stuff like this, he's really not in the mood for any honky-tonky bullshit. Besides, it's not like he has time to waste these days.

And his leg doesn't hurt. His eye does.

> Try Again.

Your name is JOHN. As aforementioned, today is your BIRTHDAY. Maybe you could ask one of your FRENEMIES to prepare you a cake, but you haven't been able to contact any of them for the last three days.

Despite the world being thrown into disarray, you have a wide variety of INTERESTS. With the WORLD UNDER ATTACK, things are a bit tricky, but you can enjoy yourself in little ways. You consider yourself something of a collector of SOUVENIRS of a life long gone, particularly involving the TOOLS OF THE TRADE of a long-lost PRANKSTER. Other people consider you GOOD WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER, and a DECENT LEADER, but you're not so sure about that. It was also mentioned earlier that you are a SURVIVOR, as being alive right now is a RATHER DIFFICULT THING. So hey, you got that going for you! Cool!

You have just finished following some very smart advice to get your devices back online without attracting unwanted attention, and are now attempting to get a breath of fresh heir. This means you should finally be able to contact your FRIENDS, ALLIES, and FRENEMIES. You should probably get out of here pretty soon, too. THEY are awfully fast at finding you.

===> Observe your surroundings.

> Observe your surroundings.

You glance around your surroundings, already fairly familiar with them but still double-checking everything. This entire building is empty and far from any Anomaly activity, meaning it's safer than most. But Anomalies are hard to trace, and by that you mean completely fucking impossible. So this move is something of a gamble, but certainly should prove worthwhile.

This entire place looks to have been abandoned, re-inhabited, ransacked a few times, and then subjected to one angry Prince asshole. Everything is left askew, and then of course there are the gaping holes in the walls, flooding the room with sunlight. Light's a comfort and a danger to you these days. Sucks that you can only enjoy it with one eye right now.

No you didn't lose an eye like some dumb pir8. It's just healing. Slowly.

Even now, the cracked phone in your pocket is vibrating with messages. Apparently your allies are celebrating their success, and pulling you into the happy funtimes and probably reminding you to get your ass back to semi-safety. You should probably respond to them!

But who to answer first?

Well, good to know she's alright. But man, your phone is going crazy! Hopefully it's not Mariet railing on you. You have enough on your plate without your FRENEMIES getting up in your biz.

You have time to reply to one more chum before you need to get out of there.
